The GSC Coaching Staff is dedicated to the procurement of young athletes in the sport of swimming. Our ultimate goal is to focus swimmers towards competition at Olympic Trials and/or College Swimming.
Casey Charles – Head Coach
Taking over as head coach of GSC in the Fall of 2005, Coach Casey has been with the GSC program for four years, serving as Head Assistant, then Head Age Group and now Head Coach. Coach Casey has seen the team flourish from 85 swimmers in 2002 to over 200 swimmers in the Winter of 2005.
Coach Casey stresses personal accountability, time management, and an arduous work ethic with all of his swimmers. Structure, progression, and adaptation are also staples in his swimming philosophy, which dictates the overall goals and mindset of the GSC.
Coach Casey holds an accomplishment ASCA Level 4 certification, coaching several Senior National Cut time, nine junior national swimmers, and over 50 Top-16 swims in four years.
As a swimmer, Coach Casey enjoyed success throughout his 18 year career in which he set over 50 club team and 10 high school records in West Palm Beach, FL. As a result of his success, Coach Casey was awarded a scholarship to swim for East Carolina University where he helped his team to runner-up finishes during the 2001, 2002, and 2003 Conference Championships. A former C-USA record holder, Coach Casey still holds an ECU varisty record in the 800 Freestyle relay. Coach Casey holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Master’s Degree in High School English. He is currently an English Teacher at an area high school.

Scott Pake – Head Age Group Coach
Over the past 8 years, Coach Scott has grown the GSC Washington Satellite from four year-around swimmers to now well over 60. Receiving his start in 2001 with the Washington Swim Club Summer League Team, Coach Scott has been pivotal in the promotion of swimming in the Washington, NC area. His start with Greenville Swim Club came in 2002, when his year-around Club program merged with the GSC. Scott’s growth as a coach in the GSC organization has only been matched by the continued successes of his swimmers.
As a competitive swimmer, Coach Scott enjoyed a successful career notching Washington High School Records in both the 50 and 100 freestyles. In 1996, Coach Scott enjoyed his most successful year, winning a Conference Title in the 100 Freestyle and then was subsequently awarded the Kuglar Leadership in Athletics Award.
