2009 North Carolina Swimming Coach of the Year

Head Coach Casey Charles was awarded the 2009 Franke Bell North Carolina Swimming Coach of the Year Award – “For consistent demonstration of coaching excellence as recognized by North Carlina swimming coaches and volunteers.” (Pictured with keynote speaker, USA Olympian Eric Shanteau)
2008-09 Season Highlights:
Team accomplishments
- 11th at 2008 USA LC Jr. Nationals (#2 in NC)
- 8th at the 2008 LC NCS State Championships
- 8th at the 2009 SC NCS State Championships
- 9th at the 2009 SC SZES Sectional Championships (#5 in NC)
- 2 Olympic Trials Qualifiers
- ECSL Champions (by 3,000 point)
- 150-178 Registered swimmers this year
- 6 Academic All-American Awards
- 8 of 10 Seniors swimming in college in the 2009-2010

We’re Back….

Parents and Swimmers,
We will be using this site as our official site until we can get the other one up and running. I think communication in general has been very good due in large part to the email commmunications of Coach Scott and other groups coaches to their specific group/s.
I see this site as an additional way to delineate information to the entire club in a timely fashion. You should probably check the blog every couple days to stay current on the happenings of the GSC.
The blog, while not a permanent fixture, will temporarily allow you to access such things as Detailed Meet Info, Entries, Meet Hotels, Meet Results, Practice Updates, Social Activites, etc.
When a coach posts something to the blog, everything else on the blog gets pushed down on the main page. Therefore, in order to find something that was posted a few days ago or in some cases a few hours ago, you will need to scroll down the page. You can also access information base on different categories, which can be found on the left side of the main page. You can also access information by day by clicking on a specific day on the calendar.
Another way to stay informed is by subsrcibing to feedwhip.com which will send you an email when this site is updated. Updates are usually sent withing 24 hours. You can use the feedwhip site for any of your other favorite sites. The link for feedwhip can be found to the right of the main page uder links or you can simply type feedwhip.com into your url.
At the top of the main page you will find information that changes less frequently. These pages are updated every few months or more. I would like for all parents to read our group progression page, which tells you how and why swimmers move or do not move from specific training groups.
As coaches, we are looking forward to a great Long Course season. Please attend all meets you can.
